Hematopathology Fellowship

The Hematopathology positions for 2015-2016 have been filled.

The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College-New York Presbyterian Hospital offers a one-year ACGME approved Hematopathology Fellowship under the directorship of Dr. Attilio Orazi. A second year may be available to qualified fellows who are interested in devoting the majority of the additional year to research. The fellowship is designed to prepare individuals for an academic career in hematopathology. During their training, the fellows are responsible for the clinical diagnostic service of the hematopathology laboratory where they learn an integrated morphologic, immunologic and molecular approach to the diagnosis and classification of hematopoietic neoplasms. Fellows have the opportunity to master a complete range of flow cytometric, immunohistochemical, cytogenetic and molecular biologic techniques. All these laboratories are an integral part of the Hematopathology Division. The fellows have the opportunity to evaluate more than 3,500 in-house adult and pediatric specimens and an additional 1000 hematologic malignancies submitted in consultation from outside institutions. The exceptional mixture of cases assures a more than adequate exposure to lymphoid neoplasms as well as bone marrow and spleen pathology. The fellows usually participate in one or more clinical and/or basic science research projects for which ample opportunities exit both within the Hematopathology Division and through collaborative projects with other laboratories within or outside our medical center.
