The Gastrointestinal Pathology position for 2015-2016 has been filled

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine of Weill Cornell Medical College (WCMC) offers a 1-year fellowship position in gastrointestinal pathology. Fellows must complete residency training in anatomic pathology and be certified (or eligible for certification) by the American Board of Pathology. The fellowship focuses on characterization of neoplastic and non-neoplastic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, pancreas and liver. It emphasizes a multidisciplinary team approach to patient management as well as clinicopathologic and translational research. A wealth of interesting and challenging in-house and consultation case material is available for study, as are comprehensive slide study sets. The gastrointestinal pathology team is fully subspecialized and includes four full-time faculty members devoted exclusively to gastrointestinal, pancreatic, and hepatic pathology as well as additional faculty who participate on the service. Case material covers the full range of gastrointestinal diseases, including a substantial amount of non-neoplastic and transplant hepatic pathology. Fellows are encouraged to participate in a 2-month rotation at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center during the fellowship, as well as rotations through the endoscopy suite. Research opportunities are available through the Translational Research Core Facility under the supervision of attending faculty.

Requirements: Candidates must have completed a four-year AP/CP residency or three years of AP residency.

Number of Appointments: One position is available each year starting with academic year 2015-2016.

Facilities: New York-Presbyterian Hospital is the major clinical affiliate and teaching hospital of Weill Cornell Medical College. Its New York-Weill Cornell Center, an 824-bed facility, is centrally located in a highly sophisticated medical community surrounded by the Hospital for Special Surgery, the Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Rockefeller University.

Stipends: Salaries are commensurate with the level of training.
